The eclectic soundtrack on You Never Bike Alone brings together rhythmic, ambient electronica from Hungary, surf music out of the Netherlands, deep dub from Poland and Denmark, and reggae beats and ska by Vancouver's own Roots Roundup and Dubfreque.
Dubfreque & Roots Round-up
Nice It Up (Dubfreque)
Bouncing Souls (Dubfreque)
Hip Polyester (Dubfreque)
On My Bike (Roots Roundup)
Roots Roundup plays a high energy hybrid of globe-spanning music, mashing up the sounds of rock'n roll, reggae, ska, afro-beat, folk, funk and pure old school punk rock.
Roots' lineup has evolved over the years as members pursued various musical interests including performing, writing, recording and teaching, but core Roots members Greg Hathaway, Dave Hannah (Dym-E-Tree), Barry Taylor, Keith Rose, David Hathaway, Mark Campbell, Shuggy Milligan and Andy Cakes came together last spring, treating a full house of loyal and new fans to a truly rip-roaring two-night performance at the Fairview Pub in Vancouver.
Originally formed in 1985 in a small apartment in East Vancouver, Roots Roundup became widely known through the late 80's and early 90's as one of Canada's hardest working, hardest touring and hardest rockin' worldbeat
dance bands. They released numerous independent recordings including "Get Rooted", "What We Do", "Syzygy" and in 1997, "Rootrospective", a 16 song collection spanning their entire recording career.
To Find Our Freedom
It's Only Rest In Our Dreams
It's All The Same
We Are All Alone In The Universe (DVD intro. only)
Peacespeakers is the electronic-instrumental project of Pityke, Bvic and Mydy to discover the rest between sounds. We are three Hungarian guys two of us living in Budapest and the third in New York.
This formation came off in 2004 as the descendant of a project called Fandora that had several releases on different selections.
We first met six years ago but we had already played music previously in different bands and projects. The songs usually come from basic ideas such as a simple guitar or keyboard theme or a good drum pattern.
Pityke plays keyboards, Bvic plays guitar and Mydy plays the bass mostly, but it sometimes changes in various songs.
Everybody takes part in the music-making process. With its chillout rythms and easygoing moods Peacespeakers is adressed to people from the age of 0 to 99 to remind them of the good moments and to have pleasant time.
During the songwriting we can give up our principles and attitudes to find the essence of music and to have such a clear, unselfish composition that people are touched by it.
Our music is influenced by the greatest performers of rock, jazz and electronic music like The Cure, Al Di Meola, Weather Report or Tosca.
